چکیده

INTRODUCTION: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) has become a standard operative procedure to relieve pain and restore function in patients with osteoarthritis. Polyethylene (Pe) mobile bearing (MB) inserts have been developed to minimize implant wear, prolong prosthesis survival and evoke less anterior knee pain due to better self-alignment. The aim of this study was to compare the clinical, radiological and functional outcome results of the Scorpio PS TKA prosthesis with either a mobile (MB) or fixed bearing (FB) Pe insert. We hypothesized that the MB group would perform better over time in clinical and functional outcome as well as showing a reduction in anterior knee pain occurrence.

Mid- term results of stryker® scorpio plus mobile bearing total knee arthroplasty

UNLABELLED BACKGROUND The mobile bearing knee system was introduced to lessen contact stress on the articular bearing surface and reduce polyethylene wear. The purpose of the current study was to investigate the mid-term results of patients undergoing total knee arthroplasties (TKAs) using Scorpio Plus Mobile Bearing Knee System (Stryker, Mahwah, NJ), and compare the outcomes between patient...

Acute, recurrent total knee dislocation: Polyethylene dislocation and malreduction

A 62-year-old man underwent total knee arthroplasty using a mobile-bearing prosthesis. Four days post-operatively the patient experienced the first of several acute knee dislocations. Closed reduction was performed at an outside hospital a total of three times prior to presentation at this institution. A two-stage exchange of the TKA was recommended due to the clinical suspicion for an infected...

Comparative gravimetric wear analysis in mobile versus fixed-bearing posterior stabilized total knee prostheses.

Polyethylene (PE) wear is the limiting factor for the longevity of a conventional total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Excessive wear leads to loosening and eventual implant failure. The aim of our in vitro study was to investigate wear of a PE tibial insert on a rotating platform as compared to the same insert fixed to the tibial baseplate and articulating with a similar femoral component. All tests...

Differences in long-term fixation between mobile-bearing and fixed-bearing knee prostheses at ten to 12 years' follow-up: a single-blinded randomised controlled radiostereometric trial.

This single-blinded randomised controlled trial investigated whether one design of mobile-bearing (MB) total knee replacement (TKR) has any advantage over a fixed-bearing (FB) design on long-term fixation as measured by radiostereometry. The amount of wear underneath the mobile bearing was also evaluated. A series of 42 knees was randomised to MB or FB tibial components with appropriate polyeth...

Re: Comparison of mobile-bearing and fixed-bearing total knee arthroplasty: a prospective randomized study.

The purpose of this prospective randomized study was to compare the postoperative recovery and early results of 2 groups of patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty: 107 patients received an established fixed-bearing posterior-stabilized prosthesis (Legacy Posterior Stabilized [LPS]), and 103 patients the meniscal-bearing prosthesis (Meniscal Bearing Knee [MBK]). Surgical procedures were the...
